Birmingham Information

Birmingham is the largest city in the state of Alabama and has a population of about 230,000.

Birmingham maintains a strong presence in the manufacturing industry. However, in recent years other industries such as banking, insurance, medicine, publishing, and biotechnology have become strong components to the economy.

The steel industry has always been crucial to the local economy. Headquartered in Birmingham are several of the nation's largest steelmakers, including U.S. Steel, McWane, and Nucor.
The city ranks as one of the largest banking centers in the U.S. and one of the most important business centers in the Southeastern United States. A Fortune 500 company and Five Fortune 1000 companies are headquartered in Birmingham.

The UAB Hospital is the area's largest employer in Alabama with a workforce of about 20,000. Major insurance providers such as Protective Life, Infinity Property & Casualty, ProAssurance and Liberty National are headquartered in Birmingham and employ a large number of people in Greater Birmingham.

The city is also home to construction and engineering companies, including BE&K, Brasfield & Gorrie and B. L. Harbert International. The companies are routinely included in the Engineering News-Record lists of top design and international construction firms.

Metropolitan Birmingham has repeatedly been rated as one of America's best places to work and earn a living because of the area's competitive salary rates and relatively low living expenses. Salary.com determined that Birmingham was second in the nation for building personal net worth, based on local salary rates, living expenses, and unemployment rates.

The Walls Come Crashing Down The Walls Come Crashing Down

Holy cow!  What on earth is happening to the world?  First the housing market, then the insurance and financial markets, and now the auto industry. What's next? Well, that is the mystery.  Let me first say this.  Expect more, much more.  Do not be alarmed at this as there is a natural evolution of new paradigms replacing old ones, old foundational structures of society ...

Does a Good Domain Name Really Matter? Does a Good Domain Name Really Matter?

Local businesses are being repeatedly told by marketing gurus that, if they do not have a presence on the internet, their local competitors (who do have a presence) will take business away from them. So, more and more consumers are first checking things out on the web prior to getting in their cars to visit a local business.  From restaurants to cleane...

Do Logos Really Matter? Do Logos Really Matter?

Do Logo's really Matter? To start, you have to think of the logo as the brand of the company or the identity of the company. Your brand should be strong enough to convey a message and a feeling instantly. It is one of the most essential branding elements for a company and should exude the company's attitude. Every time someone thinks of a product or service that you offer, you want them to thin...

Buyers are Looking and Buying Now Buyers are Looking and Buying Now

Both local residents looking to upsize or downsize and out-of-towners seeking second homes are looking in the market right now.  The common theme is, "Find me a bargain."  Home owners who are willing to negotiate and are realistic about fair market prices have the best chance of selling, particularly if the homes are upgraded with newer kitchens and baths.  When readying your hom...
